All that remains

The tower of old St Matthews Church Light Cliffe, its all that remains of the church built in 1713, it was replaced by a much larger church in the village just along the road, the main church was demolished as it was unsafe in 1973, the tower was saved from demolition by friends of the church who still take care it and the grounds today.
A very nice image of the beautifully kept grounds. Lovely crisp composition. Fav

A terrific perspective. You've captured the loneliness, the feeling of abandonment perfectly. Kudos to the good folks who rallied to save this obviously special place.

A sad tale, glad the tower was saved. It looks like Rapunzel's tower now.

@onewing Thank you for your comment Babs, I understand most of the church was damaged by fire many years ago and was deemed unsafe hence its demolition in 1973:)
