My first entry for this weeks Capture 52 "tell me at story"
many stories in these two books about the brave women of the Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA) delivering all types of aircraft in the UK in WWII
Those must be such interesting books, beautifully presented. I once read a book about a female pilot during the war, it was difficult to put it down ;-)
@onewing Thank you for you comment Babs, many stories true heroines, one to make you smile a Canadian Squadron’s pilots would not fly the typhoon fighter as is was so dangerous and difficult to fly until the day they watched one made a perfect landing at their airbase, they went over to congratulate the pilot only to find the pilot was in fact a very pretty 23 year old ATA pilot, they had no complaints about the aircraft after that, lol:)
@corinnec Thank you for your comment Corinne, these ladies were all civilian pilots along with a few men that joined the Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA) in World War Two, they ferried all types of aircraft from the factories to the active airbases, they also transported freight and personal, 175 ATA pilots lost their lives during WW2:)
