Lincoln Castle South Tower by pcoulson

Lincoln Castle South Tower

Another image from my visit to Lincoln yesterday.
The castle was constructed in 1083 by William the Conqueror, built on the site of a Roman Fortress constructed in 60AD.
Beautiful! It's always rather unbelievable to us Yanks to think that there can be structures from such an age. Maybe even more unbelievable is that fact that it's a bright sunny day in Lincoln! ;-)

@stray_shooter Thanks for your comments Ron, brief history the Romans under Julius Caesar invaded Britain in 55 BC, built a Fortress at Lincoln, to this day every construction site in the city find Roman remains which stops the work until investigated !
