I mentioned this letter box earlier in the year and went back Saturday to take a shot of it the story is:- every British competitor that won a gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics had a letter box painted gold in there home town this one stands in Castle Square Lincoln and is dedicated to Sophie Wells winner of the Equestrian team gold medal;)
@onewing Thanks Babs for your comments , this letterbox dates from around 1859 - 1866 its called the Penfold design and I understand there only a few still used in the UK, the Post Office just picked a box and painted it in the competitors home town;)
@dide Thank you very much Dianne it was indeed a lovely touch no one know it was going to be done until Helen Glover & Heather Stanning won the first British gold of the games in the pairs rowing;)
