@vase This is most serious question but my answer may seem slightly frivolous I suspect. I like fine grain and contrast but not too high, and deep blacks. I also like some silvers and greys. I stand develop if I want to emphasise tonal range and pull out more detail from shadows. It seems to be a good option with high contrast film like Bluefire Police and Rollei ATO 2.1. Having said that it can also be a mater of mood, how I am feeling, whether I want to try out a different developing recipe, and, simply exercising my judgement. I have used PanF 50ASA before and found it can be a little contrasty. At the same time I wanted to retain deep blacks and pull out some tonal range but noy overdo. i saw this recipe for 1:3 D76 for 15 mins and figured it would produce the result i wanted. I also have some premixed D76 which I am trying to use up. At 15 mins development time I hoped it would produce blacks and tonality but not a lot of greys. Hope that makes sense
