Our visit to the Great Salt Lake almost didn't happen. When we were in Salt Lake City, we asked a couple locals if they would recommend a stop at the Great Salt Lake. Both said while they had never been themselves, they had heard that it smelled bad and wasn't very scenic. I'm very glad that we didn't listen to them! It was well worth the trip. The landscape was stunning - almost otherworldly - simultaneously barren and beautiful. I am still editing the shots I took there so you may be seeing a few more in the days to come.
@ksmale Thank you, Karen! You are so right. I thought the same thing. How could you live right there and never bother to visit? Crazy! I appreciate your comment and fav.
Were those you asked natives or long time residences of SLC??? And never been to the Great Salt Lake??? Yes, it is well worth the visit..... and it is quite pretty.
Wonderful shot... dry and wet at the same time. The salt lines are beautiful, as are the reflections. Amazing shot... so glad you didn't listen to the locals.
fav Lisa. We're all a bit guilty of ignoring the things close to us and taking them for granted. I love how the water is so glassy and the sky is beautiful.
So gorgeous, and yes, so outworldly! It looks so barren and empty, and probably with those recommendations from the locals will remain so!! It is amazing how we don't see the beauty in our own land.... FAV!
