Signed up for my first 10km event which I was due to attend with my son. The race date had to be changed due to the recent storms. My son couldn't make the new date. I was worried going alone even though he wouldn't have actually rum with me as he's way too quick. He was gutted he couldn't support me and I knew if I didn't go he'd feel even worse. His mates looked out for me before the race ensuring I was in the right place at the right time and one even ran the last 0.5km with me as the others cheered me over the finish line. It was a tough run as there were some steep hills and the wind was brutal. Told myself before the day I'd be well chuffed with 75mins but happy with 80. Experienced runners were bemoaning how hard the wind made it so to get under 80 mins, well to have completed my first ever 10km event (only my second ever 10km run) I'm absolutely buzzing
