meet Big Bad Brother John from....

....the Hospital of St Cross and Almshouse of Noble Poverty. I met him last summer in Winchester. He was out on his tricycle doing some errands for other brothers and I was out with my camera.

I remember feeling happy that 365 gave me the courage to ask for a photo. He's having a break for lunch from the hog roast stall in the main street.

This shot is re-processed and posted today for throwback-Thursday and as a little conclusion to my series of photos on St Cross.

Brother John told me that he was given his name by the other brothers but that he had no idea why. He insisted that I must use it in my caption.

The brothers are not monks, St Cross being a secular charitable institution.

Seeing his hog roast butty - roast pork, stuffing etc - I had one too. There was a ribald comment from somebody but I cannot remember who........

Lin, I think I do it in the expectation of a 'no' and when it's yes, its a bonus! I can only remember one or two who said 'no' and could understand why.
