A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Not sure about pantiles
Wikipedia:
"A pantile is a type of fired roof tile, normally made from clay. It is S-shaped in appearance and is single lap, meaning that the end of the tile laps only the course immediately below. Flat tiles normally lap two courses."
Nice cropp! That roof needs repairing, I see some broken tiles and although the moss is very pretty not good for the roof. That was the innervoice of my dad.......sorry Hazel. About dads; I have bought your dads book and i’m halfway through it, it is very interesting to read! Just wanted you to know.
Jacqueline - that's OK, your dad is allowed his inner voice here. I am very pleased you are reading my dad's book and thank you for telling me. If you feel like putting a little review on Amazon when you have finished, that would be greatly appreciated - no worries if not.
Good idea to crop it like this it really makes you look at the tiles more rather than the whole picture in yesterday's shot. I have now noticed more the different types of tiles and also the hole in the roof that needs repair.
Lovely textures on old roof.....but I wonder about all the moss too.....it acts like a sponge and holds so much moisture which probably doesn't do the building much good.
We had our roof cleaned in the summer so I'm quite 'moss aware' now!!!
Would be interesting to go right into the detail of just a tile or two and the moss, but that would probably need re-photographing as such! Interesting to see the two.
Yes, thanks Phil, it's good - cropping is a fav tool of mine but it took your eye to see this! (I think it's good to use 365 in an 'experimental way sometimes, rather than always strive to post the 'best' shot?!)

What do you think? (had to 'straighten' the roof first before I could crop!)
Well done for spotting the spaces!
