All bundled up for winter, expecting 10 cm of snow tomorrow!! This little fellow has his paws wrapped around himself looking quite prepared for the inevitable.
Thank you for your comments and favs on yesterdays photo "The Barn at Sunset", always appreciated.
OMG...this just rose to the top of the heap as the cutest squirrel I've EVER seen!!! He is SO darned adorable, and you got a wonderful wonderful photo! He really needs to get on the Trending Page so lots of people can see him..."Cute to the Max"!!! (Snow?!!! LOTS of threshold opportunities!)
@Weezilou Louise thank you for your wonderful comment. I'm curious to know what your stamp carvings are used for, is it like a lino or word block print? Also does the threshold give you a silhouette type of effect or something else??
@radiogirl Back in the heyday of rubber stamp collecting, I bought as well as carved my stamps, going to "Rubber Stamp Retreats"...for seven years running! We used "Mars Statler" erasers which have a nice soft consistency to carve. Through art stores, you can also purchase large carving blocks for bigger projects, but I find them to be "just a little" crumbly if you're doing fine work. If you print your threshold image, you can trace it with tracing paper, lay that on the eraser and rub gently, making the transfer. Again, from an art store, you can buy carving tools (the "v" shaped type in the smaller sizes) work fabulously and you can get a lot of control. Start with a simple, repeatable design...you really can just draw that on. When you're comfortable with the toold, take off running! And those erasers...I've found smaller ones of that type at places like the Dollar store...good for practice and very inexpensive. I find it to be a very relaxing process...you "get in the zone" and it's such fun to stamp your creations! (I cleaned out my art room today while looking for an X-acto knife! Ken had to go get me one, but my room is very organized now! I was thinking of posting a photo of the tools and some of my carvings, though most are in CA...) I'm so glad I could share the Threshold icon with others!
PS...if you do decide to carve something, the best technique is to hold the tool steady and move the eraser with your other hand. Also, buy a pen holder to hold the blade...it will feel more natural in your hand. AND...when you print something, share a photo with us! (I've been so busy, I miss far more photos than I wish to, but please tap me on the shoulder anytime you'd like to share something I shouldn't miss! That squirrel for instance! (Would you consider letting me have a slightly larger..2MB..image? I'd love to have a print just for myself...Even sign it if you have any concern... That said, had you seen Frosty, my "pet squirrel" back in California? She lives in the wild, but spends a lot of time in our yard and is totally tame!) They're adorable little animals!
@teiko Emilie thank you for your comments and triple favs, I'm glad you enjoyed this shot, he provides alot of entertainment, and yes I'II think about knitting him a sweater, although he does hibernate for a few months in the winter.
That is one of the cutest faces I've seen, fav. Lovely capture, and I hope he manages to survive the winter. We had a flurry this morning, but not expecting what you are there, at least not yet..
