I saved these from last week and had time to play this evening so... since none of the shots are any good on their own, the collage conveys the story of one totally bizarre night for the memory book.
We attended an art gallery opening which started out in the realm of normal but quickly morphed into the surreal. The gallery was filled with a colorful, shall I say "eclectic "collection of sculpture, paintings, jewelry and vintage furniture.
As we passed an antique barber chair in the middle of the first gallery, I quipped, "You said you needed a haircut" to my husband. The next thing I knew, the owner of the gallery walked over and said, " I could do it right now if you want."
Soon hubby's in the barber chair, draped in a polka dot smock. I'm standing in the background laughing and reaching for my new little cool pix camera because no one will believe this! I don't even believe this.
Things got wilder and funnier as people started to fill the gallery, encircling the barber who was meticulously washing, then trimming Mark's hair.
The wild guy, splattered in paint, 2 parrots on his shoulders, stood out in the crowd of unique folks gathered there. One spaced out couple who had indulged in something-not sure what-just gawked and stared for a solid hour. Others wandered around , looking at the art, then joined the widening circle of onlookers while my husband became the evening's entertainment. Hadn't they seen someone getting a haircut in the middle of a art gallery on a Saturday night before? Lighting in the place was ghastly; the red walls almost made it look like a brothel so the pics are pretty pitiful but the experience will never be replicated.
An hour and a half later, my husband donned his sport coat, exchanged business cards with the owner, booked his next appointment and proclaimed it the best hair cut of his life! Oh what a night!
Loved the narrative as it gave new meaning to the images in the collage. What a fun, though surreal, evening at an art gallery! Who would have guessed!! So why was it the art gallery owner did haircuts?
that is one weird story in a wonderful kind of way. i like the collection of shots, but i like best the middle photo where your husband's face is only hinted but you have the barber and his reflection as well as a full perspective of the "barber shop". very well done.
