"I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers."
-- Claude Monet
I've always been fond of Irises, the inspiration for the Fleur-de-lis, which became the national symbol of France in the Middle Ages. The colors and the shapes of the petals are so breathtaking. I didn't grow this one. It called to me as I was dashing through the grocery store so I checked out with cat food in one hand; irises in the other.
This is one of the most GORGEOUS iris I have ever seen..... It's absolutely vibrant! I adore iris, have some, but they won't be out for months yet if their past years are any indication. FAV
Love them also...did not realize they were the influence for Fluer-de-lis, of which I have dozens of in my home! This is a lovely color and great capture...lovely detail.
the clarity of this shot is to die for. i love irises, they're my favorites, too, along with tulips and hibiscus. i love this coour and white iris. i've also seen once a lovely soft pink.
