Headed for the beach this morning with my friend Karen for 7 am
yoga on the sand, followed by my first ever class in Stand Up Paddle Boarding. SUP is becoming a very popular sport which originated in Hawaii as an off-shoot of surfing.
I've watched people do it but never thought it looked like much fun. Well, it's loads of fun. And it's a good thing I didn't know in advance that we would be doing yoga ON the paddle boards. I was nervous but I got right up on my feet, managed to keep up with the paddlers and didn't fall in once! I actually executed a couple credible Down Dogs on the board in the middle of the canal! And No, that isn't me with my rear end in the air...ha ha!
Never mind walking your dog. Here, the dogs cruise in style.
In the middle picture on the right, the 2 little dogs on the front of the board are wearing life jackets!
We have paddle boarding in "li'l 'ole Oamaru! but it is too cold mostly to do this! A cold easterly wind predominates in this area even in the summer! Just look at that lady doing Down Dog, on the board!
Wonderful shots!!! Great fun on the water. Thanks for the nice comments about our boat. We have other boats (run about, canoe and kayaks) we will still spend time on the water. Going kayaking tomorrow about 15 miles from our home.
Real fun shots....and, yes, you are a trooper to do yoga on the stand up paddle board! I wouldn't mind owning one of those things, but it would probably sit in my garage along with the bicycles. It really is a peaceful way to spend time in the water, though...
