Devil's Pool, on the edge of a Victoria Falls, can only be accessed during the dry season by those brave enough to swim through the Zambezi and be pushed by the force of the water against the natural rock walls. The raging waters plummet over the precipice, dropping 300 feet into the gorge below.
We were standing on the Zimbabwe side of the falls watching in awe through the heavy mist as the swimmers leaped into the pool. My companions and I agreed that was definitely a leap of faith! We were happy to be witnesses rather than active participants. There's a great youtube video on Devil's Pool for viewing if you're interested called "Girls defy death at Victoria Falls" www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbpQZ37jKwc.
