In the 60s, Jan and Dean recorded their hit song "Surf City", referencing the international surfing championships held in the quintessential West Coast town of Huntington Beach. This is a shot taken from the far end of the pier which shows the beach packed with sunbathers and dozens of surfers waiting for the next big wave.

Isn't this just wonderful! This is excellent! There's one more time of year I like to stand at this point for a photo and that is around late January! Those surfers never leave, but now you'll see the snow on the mountains in the background! Of course, native that you are, you know this, but the first time I saw it, I couldn't believe fate had dropped us into this heavenly location!
Loved that blue green water out there!! I don't know what people are complaining about.....this barely looks crowded to me!! Now, the Del Mar Fair on July 4th, that was crowded!!! Great shot from our nice walk...
