Don't look now but we have visitors...

This was my first view of the famous Blue-Footed Booby which we spotted as we passed by in our inflatable boat. The challenge on this trip was to maintain balance in a tiny rubber boat bobbing up and down in the surf and at the same time steady the camera to grab a shot before the boat passed by or the birds took flight.
Wonderful capture of the bird and it's beautiful blue feet! When I was there I shot only in .jpg out of ignorance...but even so, I have to dig those photos out and see if I can do anything with them. I love how we see the boat in the background in this one.

Your caption is perfect for the image! And weren't those blue-footed boobies amazing in their mating dance?

You did great and your shutter speed isn't very high for a moving bobbing capture. I love that ship in the middle of these two blue footed birds.

@taffy I'd love to see some Galapagos photos from your trip with Junko. When did you travel there?

March 2011 -- Jim and I, Bill and Junko, and 2 other friends went for 7 days via boat to I think about 6 to 8 of the islands. We created a book about it (which of course is either in storage or destroyed in the fire -- haven't seen it in a few years) but it was 2 years before Junko and I each joined 365. We both lament having been in that spot with so little knowledge of what we were doing! Like me not even knowing the difference between jpg and RAW! No knowledge of how to control DoF or the role of ISO for changing shutter speed/aperture settings to get what I wanted. So much was luck.

OMG, that description!!! I'd say you did quite an admirable job with huge success! A Fave for your dexterity, if nothing else!!!

Such an awesome shot.

They are the funniest birds. Just saw a video of the way they attract a mate with a little foot dance.

I love boobies! Especially when captured as such. Great job framing the ship between them. Congrats on a challenging capture.
