Alpha Male

We observed this Flightless Cormorant who stood his ground when the Blue-Footed Booby made its approach. After I took this shot, the Cormorant flapped its short wings, squawked loudly and
eventually the Booby flew away.
An amazing capture again, I presume the crabs were part of his dinner!

Nice catch of the confrontation.

Love the name of the Blue-Footed Booby. Why do they call it a Booby? I think their feet are a pretty shade of blue. Awesome trip you are having!

@joysfocus I read the name Booby comes from the Spanish word "bobo"
which means clown, probably for its blue feet! We were in the Galapagos in late November but I just started posting again recently.

How cool -- an action shot in the bird world! He does look like he's ready to force the other one to stand down.

@jgpittenger How can you say that when You are one capturing the
amazing underwater sea turtle shots in Hawaii! I only wish I had an underwater camera because we saw lots of turtles while snorkeling. Are you happy with yours?

What a great shot of nature playing out. I'd bail out too if I got that look.

This looks like a Nature Museum diorama! It has a fabulous story to tell, and those crabs add the perfect finishing touch the the scene!

Great shot. It was because of the blue footed bookie and the Sally light foot crab that was the reason I wanted so much to visit these islands. I have looked your shots and all of them capture the essence of this peculiar island mass.
