The Tree I Love to Hate

Today my Magnolia Tree is in glorious bloom in the front yard. This lasts for approximately 3 weeks every year. The other 49 weeks, the tree drops leaves and sap all over the place and its roots have invaded the water and sewer lines several times. The City won't let us remove it so I've learned to enjoy its beauty while it lasts and try to ignore it for the rest of the year.
I have never seen a magnolia tree with stamens like that. Usually they have cones in the middle. Beautiful tree, though.

What type of magnolia is this, ours in the UK are like giant overblown tulips, and like you only bloom for a short space of time. Beautiful photo!

@jackie8 I've never known the exact name of our tree but a landscaper told me it was part of the magnolia family.

I love your photo of this somewhat despicable tree! It certainly is a beautiful portrait of it at its best!

Such a shame the blooms are so short lived but they are beautiful

I think it's beautiful! And they are messy.
