Pumping station by richardcreese

Pumping station

Abbey lane pumping station, Corporation Road, Leicester. The four Gimson beam engines where running today with a steam and old car fair as well. The engines are the height of four floors and where built in 1891 and pumped sewage from low Leicester to Beaumont Leys treatment plant. Had a ride on a small steam engine. Rained most of the day and very little light.
