Must Be Building a Nest Hole!

Mr Pileated was going to town on pecking on this tree. Normally, it just seems like it's some very small pieces of bark removal, but this guy was serious about putting a large hole in the tree. Think it might actually be the beginnings of a nest. I'll just have to try to remember where it is and see if it gets bigger.

I believe the holes they make for feeding are rectangular and round for nesting. Can't tell which it is yet. Hopefully this is at a place where you can keep an eye on it.
