On Monday evening I went to see my local beacon in the highest village in the UK. Regardless of your opinion on the royal family, I think it was worth being a part of the diamond jubilee as it's no one alive today will see another reign so long and it is a historic event. I love the whole beacon thing and thought it quite magical, especially as we could see so many from up here!
I'd love to see a satellite image of a beacon lit UK, but even if the beacons were large enough to see from space, it would have been too cloudy for an image!
This beacon here had to be a gas one as anything else would have been too much of a fire hazard with all the moorland around.
I love the idea of the beacons. I think this photo expresses it well. Looked at your other photos and like the childrens hats. Its must have been a nightmare getting that bunting up!
