June Word Challenge - power
The power of nature, in this case, water. Some parts of the UK have been flooded in the last few days. It's a grey, dull and wet spring/early summer here thanks to the jet stream not sitting in its usual place.
A lovely lady who reads my blog and enjoys all my Peak District photos came to stay near me this weekend - all the way from Australia (on an 8 week Europe tour) - to see my home for real. I had a really busy weekend playing tour guide and am worn out now but it was a great weekend!
It rained and rained all day on Saturday but we went out anyway to Castleton, with plans to visit Peak Cavern (they were amused by its other name, the Devil's Arse!). This is the river that runs through Castleton, know as Peak Hole Water (or the River Styx as it goes through the cavern). There was some small, localised flooding around here and both Peak and Speedwell caverns were closed due to flooding so we took them to Treak Cliff instead, the only place in the word where Blue John is found.
The link below shows an image of the usual water flow here - see last photo on the page - the photos in the link are not mine, just what google gave me when I searched!
What a great event for you and your visitor. Quite a different view for her I am sure. Your photos on the link ar great. Nice composition here, great to see the old houses and brickwork. Great view of the river and the paths. I have some Blue John jewellery set in silver, its such an attractive stone.

Yes, it hasn't rained around here for 3 days so all the flooded areas have dried up now and I expect the river through castleton has calmed down a bit too, though Saturday's rain may still be draining through I guess!
Thanks. The linked photos are not mine - I'll edit to say that - I just googled for one and came up with that page.

Thanks. Shame she lives on the other side of the world, we got on so well!
