Lacking any other photos, I had the idea to recreate my photo from one year ago (and also a year before that) of the cherry tree. It was only when I tried to get the same composition that I remembered that the tree had quite a drastic trim last year so it's a completely different shape now and the branches in my previous photos are long gone. I can still see though that this year, the tree is more much more advanced that it was in (the cold) March of 2013 but not as advanced as it was in (the warm) March of 2012.
