Another Monday morning Wildlings session on The Roaches today... we only had 5 children this time (usually more like 20) but it was really cold, really wind and with plenty of showers and this location is quite high and exposed. There were still a few little patches of snow clinging on up here.
@overalvandaan Yes they do, Wildlings sessions are for children under 5 so it's usually mum with a couple of small children. Most of our sessions are for families but we do do wildplay where children are left with us for a day in the woods of den building, fires and activities tailored to their interests, though that's for children aged 7+
@overalvandaan I have written about some of them on my blog... Wildlings is quite new and so far I'm finding the session a bit boring now as it's basically the same activities each time whereas wildplay we do in parks etc with older children has themes so the activities vary more. All the wildplay I've done is labelled under wildplay on my blogs though and the first post at the moment is the previous wildlings I did which was at a different site, not far away from today's - that's the basics of a wildlings session in terms of activities. What we cook on the fire varies and there might be a crafty activity that varies too. https://louises30dayswild.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/wildplay
It looks like a fun thing to do in a beautiful area and an important lesson. Wish I had been able to do that when I was under 5! But a few years later I could venture into the woods unsupervised and climb trees etc with no one to worry about safety and liability etc. Them was days!
@yrhenwr yes indeed! I used to play here unsupervised as a child... under 10 I played close to the house in the wood/fields/river and when I was about 10 I was allowed to walk up high and onto the rocks by myself. No child would be able to do that these days.
