Snout fly by roachling

Snout fly

I stood outdoors for about ten minutes this afternoon watching bumblebees visiting iris and noticed a few different flies too, including this one, Rhingia campestris, a type of hoverfly. Not rare but I haven't seen one for a a while.

30 Days Wild starts tomorrow! I'm out all day from about 9am to 11pm, getting in a lot of outdoor time so I won't be able to upload my day 1 or check out photos from anyone else joining in until Sunday / Monday.
Well done

What a great close-up. The iris have given the fly his own little wonderland as a background. :)
