@carolmw Thanks, Carol. One of the things I learned is that when I'm shooting that close I need to go for a side profile to have any hope of capturing the tongue. Nose on, there's too little depth of field to give anything more than an extreme blur.
Wow .. I don't know if I could do this one without feeling a little scared. However, the excitement of getting a catch like this one might make me overcome that fear! Yes, indeed. GREAT!

No, I like to think I may be crazy, but not stupid. The black racer is neither poisonous nor agressive. If it were either, I'd be on my feet and at a much more respectful distance. ;-)
Glad you liked this picture. Lynn, Snake is about 3' long. Think he's living under a bush by our front door.
