O.K., it's a crow and not a raven.
Still, I enjoy the challenge of trying to get the blacks right. That still needs some work.

I think that if you try to lighten the shot to show the eyes, you will lose contrast and details. It appears that the eyes were in a shadow and they did not catch enough light. I am a novice, and there are certainly other people that can advise you better than I can. What photo editing program do you use?

Rob, I like this crow not a raven! Isn't it amazing how hard the blacks can be. . .but you haven't pushed it to blue, so I think it's great.

Thanks for stopping in. Only editing program I have access to is iPhoto. Am considering getting an external flash which might help with things like the "eyes in the shadow" issues. ?

@rob257 Not sure about the flash, Rob. Still learning myself. There is an editing program called Picmonkey that you can use, a lot of people use it.

@rob257 A lot of it has to do with the light when you take the shot, so a flash may be a lot of help. My camera has a built in flash,. but I try to keep it off. Wish I could be of more help.

It's all part of the fun. Appreciate you comments. I do have built in flash, but it's somewhat limited. Need something with a bit more "range" to help with critters in the underbrush, etc. Rob p.s. Checked out Picmonkey. Neat program. I like what it can do. Now I just have to find where it puts things I tell it to "save". ;-)
