Volunteer with rescued eagle. by rob257

Volunteer with rescued eagle.

We found no sign of the second chick, but minutes after we rescued this one a family of racoons came down the trail. Five minutes later and we'd have been too late. Check out my posting for the 17th for an update on its sibling.
How awesome...look how big the talons are! He looks pretty feisty...glad you were there and got him before the raccoons did!

VERY big for a chick. Wonderful series and thanks for saving the chick.

@lynnb @morrisroos Thanks for the kind words. "Chick" really isn't the right word as this "juvenile" is nearly full grown. White head and tail feathers will come in after a couple of years.

wow! that is quite a size! Did it struggle much when picked up? I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of his beak or feet. Hope it makes a full recovery

@cobaltfish Andy, I was surprised at how docile it was, though part of that may have been due to exhaustion; especially in light of the attack it had obviously undergone. Shortly after we had it "in hand" we put a blind over it's eyes which also helped to keep it calm. Thanks for your interest.
