Eye spy an Inland Bearded Dragon, Pogona vitticeps. Canon MP-E 65mm macro and MT-24EX flash.
Unrelated video but it's titled Australia so there is some connection. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqQ4oZkPiKU
amazing! I have been really wanting the MP-E 65mm macro - I take it you'd recommend it?
I'd not be keen on getting that close to a Bearded Dragon though, I am convinced when lizards try to intimidate - and just back up and give them their space
@lbmcshutter It's a great lens Megan, rather unforgiving with manual focus and very shallow DOF. Also it is a dedicated macro, 1:1-1:5 continuous variable magnification. At 5x you are right on top of the subject and light is at a premium. An off camera flash is necessary, homemade diffusers and soft boxes are part of refining the images you can capture. I read lots of macro forums and photo blogs before committing to a purchase. If you want to stand off the subject and focus from 1:1 macro to infinity the Canon 180mm f/3.5L macro is super sharp. I have one and use it when hiking in bright sunlight, the autofocus can be a little slow but the images it takes are sharp and vibrant.
@robv I covet both lenses, and I've noticed b&h have a lens sale and that is the cheapest I have seen the MP-E 65, I have been looking into it for a long time and think I need both, I have the 100mm 2.8 - bought it before the IS one came out.
Great shot, Robert! Is this a pet or are you in Australia or at a zoo or.... Not sure where you are because this was taken in 2013 LoL... time travelling?
@mjalkotzy It's a work place pet Martin. Hahaha, I had problems with 365 putting the photo in 2009. Edited that to the correct date but missed the EXIF snafu, the backup battery on my camera must not be working, pulled the grip to recharge both batteries and must have overshot when resetting time/date. Maybe it would reassure those who think the world will end 12/21/2012 because of the Mayan calendar. Ah, to time travel would be cool, I could find out about all the mistakes I'll make over the next year.

Great shot.
