Roman Numerals

Numbers are the theme. I just wonder how many kids these days know what these number symbols represent, or if it is even taught now days. This is the face of a clock that my grandmother had, then my mother after her. The timer spring has broken but the chume spring is still intact

a beautiful clock---my students (7th graders) barely know how to tell TIME much less how to read Roman numerals!! :)

@dmrams sad isn't it, so many things are lost in such a subtal way and when they are gone it is either (what happened) or (oh well).

I'm 25 and I'm pretty sure I was never taught what roman numerals were. My own curiosity when I was younger taught me.
