Whitgift Almshouses

I walk past these stunning almshouses in the centre of Croydon most days when I am work. The Hospital Of The Holy Trinity was founded in 1596 by the Archbishop of Canterbury as a gift to the people of Croydon. Now known as the almshouses, people can still apply to live here - you have to be a member of the Church of England, over 60 and be "of modest circumstances".
An aspect of Croydon that most do not see/hear about.
