Tulip Stairs by rumpelstiltskin

Tulip Stairs

The Queen's House in Greenwich was built for Anne of Denmark, wife of James I, in 1616. It is said that he commissioned it in apology for swearing at her when she accidentally killed one of his favourite dogs during a hunt. The house was designed by Inigo Jones, and the Tulip Stairs are an original feature of the Queen’s House; it is the first geometric self-supporting spiral stair in Britain.
