The Magna Carta memorial was erected in 1957, and was sponsored by the American Bar Association. It was designed by the architect Sir Edward Maufe, who also designed the nearby Allied Air Forces memorial.
The ABA Magna Carta Memorial was designated a Grade II listed monument in 2015, which was also the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta. The occasion was marked with a celebration at Runnymede meadows attended by The Queen, Prince Philip, Princess Anne, former PM David Cameron, the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, US Attorney General Loretta Lynch and
a delegation from the American Bar Association.
Another fav the center composition really works here with the gnarly tree branches framing all around. The cerulean blue sky - looks almost like a painting.
