The staircase at Arundells

Arundells is a house in Salisbury's Cathedral Close with medieval origins. It is most famous for being the home of former Prime Minister Edward Heath (1916-2005), who lived there from 1985 until his death. The house is beautifully decorated, and the walls of the staircase are covered in handprinted wallpaper from China depicting stories about the Monkey King and the Garden of Immortal Peaches. Heath was also a keen art collector, sailor and musician.

Lovely shot. Interesting diametric change of light: warm light at the top and cold one at the bottom.
