Olympic statue

Not a great quality shot, because it's taken through a train window, travelling at speed through the East End of London - but wanted to capture the Anish Kapoor structure that is half-built in front of the Olympic stadium. I love Kapoor's work.

Once this is finished, it will be Britain's biggest piece of art, at 120m tall, and it will be possible to climb up it!
Interesting ... London is changing so much! I will check this next time I come to London ... when is it supposed to be finished?

@ralfb I found an article about the progress of the construction, which says it may be completed around March next year: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/art/8361678/London-2012-Olympics-Weaving-junk-metal-into-Olympic-gold.html

@maaikel @dmrams @phil_howcroft Thank you - I'd spotted it on the way out to Ipswich, so was sitting on the right side of the train, with my camera ready at the right time, and took about 8 shots as the train sped past - this was the best of the bunch :o)

Phil, I'm not good with heights .. I doubt I'll be taking any shots from the top! I'm sure someone on 365 will, though :o)

don't worry about the quality -- a picture that tells a story or informs is a good picture! Oh, by the way, as promised, I have made a man out of orange peel like you...hee, do view to make...er...comparisons....^_^
