I'm pretty sure the solfège symbols had something to do with a song Carolyn was trying to teach Anna. Anna hasn't quite learned how to read music on the staff yet, so they've worked out some weird way to use solfège symbols and dots to encode a melody. (Personally, I think it would just be easier if Carolyn were to help her learn how to read on a staff, but what do I know?)
I like how it looks like Matthew is singing "do re mi" while he scribbles his rainbow. (Yet again a sister-provided base rainbow. And cloud, and I believe a kite...)
So, yes, I've done basically this same image already, but as the chalkboard and the light is ever changing, it's really not quite the same, right?
Your photos are so adorable! Is Carolyn learning recorder? Just curious. I'm a fan of solfege for sight singing but haven't seen it used like this before.
@dmcoile They do a recorder unit every year in music class, but this is not from that - it's definitely a made-up thing she and Anna came up with. They start in kindergarten learning the syllables and hand motions (I don't even know those!) so it's a base that both girls know at least.
