'Tis the Night Before School Starts

...and all through the house, not a child is stirring (except for the oldest, who thinks she doesn't need to rest). The backpacks are waiting all packed by the door, and the clothes are laid out (hopefully not on the floor).

Morning will come, I fear all too soon, for these children who have lately been sleeping 'til noon. But with excitement and glee to see friends old and new, they'll be boarding the bus for grade six and grade two!

Oh, I remember those days. Now, several decades later, our little great granddaughter started pre-kindergarten this year. Time flies.

@linnypinny Thanks! I kept making up lines to the poem all while the kids were getting ready for bed, but in the end this was all I could remember. :)
