Little Hats, Big Hearts by sarahsthreads

Little Hats, Big Hearts

Our yarn shop is supporting our local hospital and the American Heart Association in making newborn sized red hats for all the babies born in the hospital during February. They are going to be given to the families in part to raise awareness for the importance of screening for congenital heart defects. We are not the only group making them (but are the largest, I believe) and in two days our customers have brought in an astonishing 150 hats - half of what the hospital needs for the entire month! Considering many people left promising to return with more, I think there will be no problem having enough hats for all the new little ones!

It was a long, busy day at work today, but the warm-fuzzy-happy feeling has me smiling hours and hours later - our little community of knitters and crocheters is really truly wonderful.

The scene out the window was too distracting to the marvelous red hats, so I did a little selective de-coloring. I kind of like that the spinning wheel is still a warm brown in the background!
Great shot and such a wonderful cause.

What a cute idea.

Great shot, and I like the red. We were given little hats for the twins last Feb when they were born, and I loved them! (But they weren't to raise awareness)
