We walked across the Brooklyn Bridge with the older two kids today, and after a quick lunch decided to visit the 9/11 memorial park. We hadn't been yet, and it was sort of overwhelming to see these waterfall pools that were built in the footprints of the twin towers.
There were flowers stuck into the letters of peoples names here and there, which seemed especially moving.
What an emotional day this must have been for all of you. We were there before the new towers and memorial were built. Would really like to see the area now. Your photo is very poignant.
@aglennc Thank you. It was pretty emotional for the grownups, but the kids have only really learned about 9/11 as history in school - while the order of magnitude did hit home in a more tangible way for them, they were fairly easily cheered up with giant soft serve ice cream cones after. ;)
