Not Exactly Elegant

The innards of my digital piano. The plastic weighted hammers under the keys are systematically breaking after almost 20 years of hard use, so we regularly have to open it up, remove a key, replace the hammer and close it back up.

It's not nearly as pretty as the innards of the grand piano at school, but it's definitely not your typical piano shot.
Diigital piano!!?? We purchased a lovely used and totally refurbished studio upright player piano in about 1973. It came with about 200 old and fairly modern piano rolls. My husband had always wanted a player and our kids were ready for piano lessons. It got a whole lot of used until the kids went away to college! (their friends were fascinated with the player idea.... We also added a lot of rolls.) We still have it. Poor old thing never gets played now, and we wonder why we keep it. I used to play it too, but haven't touched it in years.

@aglennc A player piano would definitely be cool! We bought our digital piano because at the time we were living in an apartment and it has headphone jacks. It was state of the art in 1998, but the technology is so much better now that I'm hoping to upgrade in the not terribly distant future. If I had unlimited funds and the space, I'd absolutely get a grand piano and have it tuned every other month, but unless I win the lottery (I'd have to buy a ticket first) that's not going to happen.
