Another slice of daily life in our little fishing village ... but at the opposite end of the spectrum to yesterday's fishing net repairs for the big fishing trawlers at the harbour who offload their catch at the fish factory. The small time fishermen going out overnight in their little boats, salt their catch and hang it out to dry in the time honoured West Coast fashion just like their fathers and grandfathers did. The resulting dried fish lasts a long time without refrigeration and is called Bokkoms
