We took Madison for a "necessarily slow" walk around the housing estate in the early evening to try and work off some energy. This is a very familiar stance - she stops to wave at everybody and every passing car. Here she was actually waving at a little dog barking at his gate as we walked by. He didn't stop barking so in my next shot she was lifting up her shirt to show the dog her tummy. I wonder if that is an instinctive residual in humans to indicate we mean no harm, like dogs will show their tummy in submission, before our behaviour is modified by social norms as we grow up????
