Drinks competition fund raiser

This was an event in our local pub tonight, for a home made fruit drink, such as sloe gin, damson vodka, blackcurrant vodka, even jelly bean vodka. It costs you £1 to enter. Each entry is poured into a glass and numbered. You then pay £! to be able to taste and judge the drinks. Once you have paid your £1 you are given 5 pennies, a glass of water and a teaspoon. The next step is to go around the table and take a teaspoon of each entry, washing your spoon in your glass of water between each tasting. When you have decided which you like the best you place your penny beside it. You can put all your pennies on one or split them between entries. At the end the winner is the entry with the most pennies beside it. This event along with a raffle raised over £100.

A lot of fun too - some of these would be easy to identify but all might be different in quality!

@deborah63 @hermann @gijsje @onewing @cutekitty @anniesue @callymazoo @flowerfairyann @tunia @maggiemae @tosee Another huge thank you to you lovely people for your kind comments. This has always been a popular event and the drinks are becoming more and more adventurous. The first year it was held the drinks were mostly sloe Gin, the following year damson gin made an appearance. The third year other spirits such as vodka and bacardi were used and fruits such as raspberries and blackcurrants were used to flavour them. This year we had a jelly bean vodka!!! Who knows what next year will bring. Maggiemae, some you could tell right away, some were very strong and others very sweet. Annie-Sue, walking home was not a problem, you only get a sip of each one on a teaspoon. If it is one you rather like and just to check you can go back and have another :)
