Rowan by shirleybankfarm

Rowan

Or mountain ash tree. The are heavily laden with berries this year and look beautiful against the blue sky. Still have not got my camera replaced. I can't make my mind up what brand to go for or whether to go for a manual zoom and focus or not!!! Every camera I have looked at has somethings I like and some I don't.
A beautiful capture. Fav.

Nice capture. Our rowan looks the same; full of berries.

This is lovely. Like how the whole frame is filled, and with such lovely colours

Big decisions Shirley! All I know is the longer I do this project the less fancy camera the better! I started off wanting all guns blazing with different lenses etc etc. Now the iPhone sometimes suffices! My diary type photography is more about snapshots! I used to go out trying to get great macro, DOF etc but now a shot of the day is good! Don't seem to get the time these days!
This rowan is so beautiful!

The heavily ladened branches foretell of a harsh winter, so my mum would have said.....

Is it the same as with needles trees. they say the more cones the harder the winter will be. look beautiful with all the berries.

We have 3 rowans just outside our place and I like watching the changes through the year! Supposed to keep your place safe! I love my camera - got tons more than all the DSLR's

Lovely shot Shirley. A mountain ash tree in Australia is a type of eucalypt.

Hard to sort out which camera with so much choice! I have a Panasonic bridge camera which is basically a high end point and shoot if you like! But it has a fantastic zoom and also takes great macro shots without the complications of lenses and complex settings. there are countless manual settings but I very rarely use them (Im easily confused!). it doesn't compare with the clarity and crisp focus of a dslr but for me the complexity is beyond my capacity to learn! Hope you find what suits you. Love this photo... Round here as soon as the berries ripen the starlings and other birds descend and strip them bare!

@gijsje @thresheg @cmp @happypat @roachling @cutekitty @bruni @deborah63 @hermann @maggiemae @peterlgrave @gaylewood @julienne1 Thank you all for your lovely comments and getting my photo on the PP. Thank you also for your advice and sharing your experiences about cameras. Pat I think I agree, I first thought I would like to progress to a camera with different lenses etc, but after doing this project for over a year now don't think I would get the use. Julienne, my camera that has died is a Panasonic and I must say I have loved it, although I didn't use it to it's capacity, and I am very tempted to another. Kitty and Burni, I also know the saying 'lots of berries indicate a hard winter to come' but I don't know that that always follows. Debbie, I don't know if the berries are edible as a berry but you can make Rowan Jelly form them. I tried this one year and did not like it at all.
