Cesarean

This is one of our Pure British Blue embryo calves being born. We had three calves due this year and after two disasters we have tonight got a live female calf. We are now under debate as to what to call her. Her name has to start with the letter L this year. The cattle society works through the alphabet with a different letter each year. This way you can keep track of the year an animal was born. I will try and get a picture tomorrow when the calf is dry and up on her feet.
Oh lucky to get a heifer .. I had to assist one time with doing a cesarean.. amazing.. Lucky .. is the obvious name.. We have pedagree freisians and we name them with the first letter of their Mothers name .. so you can keep track of their family.. Hope Mum recovers well..

Fave Shirley, a wonderful moment & such a good moment to discover mum had a heifer, always a bonus! We had pedigree cows but used our prefix which was Latus & then the name of the mothers family plus number. E.g. Latus Wendy 6 so we knew how many Wendy's we had.
