Both the Lakedistrict hills and the Pennines are covered with snow and although the weather is bright and sunny it is cold with hard frost at night. At Shap it was - 6 deg C last night. If there is any wind at all no mater which direction it comes from it has to blow over one or the other lots of hills and the snow.
Nice shot.I don,t mind a bit of cool like about 16 to 20c we sometimes get in the winter and single figures at night, but your temperatures are too cold for me !!
@gijsje@maggiemae@shepherdman@happypat@tonydebont@onewing@gilbertwood@peterlgrave@hermann@flowerfairyann Thanks all for your lovely comments.. I like the snow when it stays up on the hills and not on our roads!! It is cold but at least it's dry and you can wrap up against the cold. Pat it hasn't quite got cold enough to cause problems with the water freezing in the sheds yet, but yes it is hard work when that happens. It adds a lot of time to feeding the animals when they are to thaw out to allow the cattle to drink.
@shirleybankfarm Don't I know it, a nightmare! We once Solent the whole of Christmas morning thawing out, think perhaps water bowls & pipes are more freezer friendly now or perhaps not!
@happypat Bet your pleased you haven't all that to do anymore Pat. Bowls and pipes are not really freezer friendly, it just depends how hard the frost is and also how long it goes on for. Hubby just said tonight it doesn't want to be any harder because it was starting to creep into the buildings tonight. He had to help our automatic scrapers to set off tonight.
