Back again. by shirleybankfarm

Back again.

There has been a spell where the squirrels haven't been coming to feed. I presume there has been plenty in the wild for them to forage, but they have been here for the last few days.

We have lots too Shirley. All over the bird table & under the trees, I thought squirells used to hibernate in the winter, we see more of them now than in the summer!

@gijsje @happypat @bruni Thank you ladies for your lovely comments. Pat they don't fully hibernate, but are a little less active than in winter. They still come out to feed. Are they red squirrels that you have? Bruni the ears look a lot more pointy in this shot because they are very wet as it is actually raining.

@happypat @gilbertwood @hermann @tonydebont @annepann Thank you all for your lovely comments. I have had two scampering around my garden today burying nuts in all my pots and all over the garden. Pat, this area is one of the last strong holds of the red squirrel and we do all we can to help them survive. My last reply to you should have read they are little less active in the winter than they are in the summer. My fingers ran away without my brain. :)

Lovely red squirrel Shirley. I have never seen one

@terryliv thanks Terry, there aren't a lot of places that still have the red squirrels. The greys have taken over in most places. That is why we are so protective of the reds.
