Murmurating starlings

Not the best of pictures but I found it very difficult to catch these fast moving birds. There were thousands of starlings dancing about all over the place. It was fasinating to watch. They were often right over the top of us and the noise from their wings was amazing. We managed to escape their offerings from the sky but the car was covered when we got back to it.

I gather there are a lot up near Orton and Carlisle but I have never seen them it is too far to go on the off chance. Well done for capturing them.

@callymazoo @joannakate @barneyone @terryliv Thank you for your lovely comments. There is and bit in out local paper today about the area that we saw these starlings at. There are so many people going to see them that the road sides and open fell areas are getting mashed up with people parking on them. Cally this is near Orton.

Well captured. I've only seen this kind of Starling display once before at Aberystwyth seafront...... they dive under the pier there.
