Black Tulip

I have difficulty growing tulips in my garden. They flower beautifully the first year I plant them. After that they get fewer and fewer every year. I don't know whether I have the wrong sort of soil or if, as I have been told they can, mice eat the bulbs. However this is one of the few that has survived several years.

Tulips should multiply rather than dwindle away. our pest here are the squirrels. they dug up the roots or lately snap off the tips of the flowering tulip. I love this gorgeous dark color. fav.

Sorry I do not participate as much as I did but time is short. @maggiemae everything in my garden gets ignored really. They get two chances they either live or die :) I don't really like gardening.

I have no idea how tulips grow every year but would have thought they would grow stronger & multiply,perhaps not! This is a stayer & what a great one to have with that unusual colour!

Lovely shot. I had some in my garden, this colour, earlier in the Spring & found it very difficult to get a true colour.
