When we went to bed the night before all the weather forecasts sounded bad. When we awoke in the morning we couldn't see our driveway. As a matter of fact we couldn't see much of anything under the one foot of fresh snow. Thankfully a neighbor showed up with his tractor and cleaned half of our driveway. My wife and I cleaned out in front of the garage and I shoveled a path between the house and garage. All schools in our county and the county south of us cancelled. We got more snow today than all of winter combined.
A natural Flash of Red.
@danette - I set my weather app on my phone for Panama City Beaches among others and I saw that parts of Florida were under tornado warnings. I hope they missed you!
@dmdfday - I know a foot probably considered a dusting where you live!😉
It's been awhile since we got that much at one time. Normally we get it in stages. Maybe 4-6 at one time and the next day or later in the day we'll get more on top of that where we end up with a foot but usually not at one time. We have pretty decent road crews but I think this much at one time challenged them. I had a dentist appointment yesterday morning at 1:00 and the one road had not been plowed. There was one and a half lanes made by traffic. When you met someone coming from the opposite direction we'd slow down put it in 4 wheel drive and pass each other so we wouldn't get sucked into the deep snow. When we went home at 3:00 they still hadn't plowed. Somebody forgot about that road.
@skipt07 We had about 5 tornadoes touch down the other day, not far away. From Aventura to north of Pompano, there was damage. They were EF1 and EF0. The weather came through our neighborhood, but fortunately no tornado. There is a video online of a guy almost driving through one. The weather report said we get 4 a year but this is the only year I have remembered a tornado touching down in our area. The last I remember was when I was in college--one came through Gainesville and downed some trees.
@danette - After experiencing the effects of a couple of tornadoes it makes me wonder how or why the people that live in what is called, "Tornado Alley" would want to continue to live there? Glad that you are safe!
